8 Style Tips for the Holiday Season
Once the holiday season starts, there's no stopping it. Invites upon invites to holiday parties start pouring in and before you know it, you're faced with the perpetual sartorial question: what am I going to wear? Don't panic. Chances are you already have the answer lying around in your closet. Just take these style tips and have fun!
1. Statement Outerwear: If you have a coat with interesting detail (embroider, fur, etc.), not is the perfect time to wear it. Make sure the fit is right; this makes you look a hundred percent chicer.
2. Sparkles: There is no better season to rock the sparkles like the holidays. Be sure to limit your shiny pieces to 1 or 2 though (a brooch here, some gold flats there) because you don't want to look like a Christmas tree.
3. Colour: Much like glitter, colour also goes well with the season so enjoy it. Neon? Bring it on. Jewel tones? Even better.
4. Velvet: Believe it or not, this fabric is making a comeback. If you're unsure about donning a full velvet dress, try it with a few statement pieces, like your shoes or a scarf.
5. Jewellery: Nothing is as much of an outfit pick-me-up as piles of bangles and a cocktail ring the size of an egg-don't be afraid; it's the holidays, everyone will love it.
6. Bold, Festive Makeup: As you might have learned by now, you can pretty much get away with a lot of fashion choices in this season, same goes for makeup. Try a bold lip colour or a sultry smoky eye. Plus points if you're normally just a lip balm kind of girl and don a full face come the holidays.
7. Textures and Layers: Sometimes the best thing is just to experiment. Try mixing textures that you would normally never wear separately or together. Embroidered everything! Lace and faux fur!
8. Absolutely No Denim: Come on. Denim can be worn all year round and the holidays call for something a little less casual.
