ABC's Muirhead pleads not guilty to child pornography charges
ABC former presenter, Andy Muirhead enters not guilty plea at Hobart Court Thursday, to two counts of child pornography charges hurled against him by the Australian Federal Police.
The Australian Associated Press said, according to The Sydney Morning Herald, that 34-year-old Muirhead was first charged with one count of using the world wide web in accessing child exploitation material.
Authorities from the Australian Federal Police in Hobart formally filed cases against Muirhead in June last year.
Muirhead is the face of ABC1 television show, Collectors. He is also hosting in one of the programs for the ABC Radio in Hobart.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the AAP noted in its report that the media practitioner has just taken his unpaid leave from his popular television program and released of programming from his radio show, when authorities filed their second charges against him in August.
He was charged with the state-based offense of possessing child exploitation material between February and June last year.
Muirhead is due back in court on April 4, following court’s adjournment of the case by Magistrate Sam Mollard. His case will then be heard at Hobart’s Tasmanian Supreme Court.
