Toronto film festival showcased some of the best films of this year and from its lineup of films it could be predicted that the race to Oscars 2014 is tough.

12 Year A Slave: After winning Toronto People's Choice Award on at TIFF, Brad Pitt's "12 Year A Slave" has become a frontrunner for the Oscar 2014 best film category. Based on autobiography by the same name, "12 Year A Slave" is a story about a black man who is abducted and sold in slavery. The film has been praised by critics for touching a poignant human issue, however film pundits have predicted that showing harsh realities in the film may not go down well with the Academy Award voters.

Gravity: Second in the race is Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity. Starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the two fight for survival in a damaged Space Shuttle. "Garvity" has been universally hailed by critics as wells as the audience. The film has been appreciated for its ingenious 3D affect and for its production design. According to James Cameroon of 'Avatar' and 'Titanic' fame, "Gravity" showcases the best space photography "ever."

Sandra Bullock and Clooney's film is up for a real fight.

Inside Llewyn Davis: Joel and Ethan Coen's film swept the Grand Jury Award at Cannes Film Festival. Hailed by critics for its mature direction and novel idea of cultural disconnections within the New York music scene, "Inside Llewyn Davis" is another strong competitor for the 'Best Motion Picture' in 2014 Academy Awards.

Though not released,, Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" and David O. Russell's "American Hustle" are also films to watch out for the Oscar 2013 best film nominations.
