Acer introduced to the public over the weekend the Aspire R7, a convertible all-in-one laptop with a display that can move around in different ways through a new Ezel hinge.

The hinge is a strong connected that permits the display to be placed into a the traditional upright position of laptops, fold in half and act as a touchscreen slate or float above the keyboard as a shared horizontal workspace.

The device, which has a 1080p resolution 15-inch screen, sits on a hinge that gives the display the ability to be pushed up for back, folded in out and down, laying nearly flat with the rest of the computer.

Acer said the device could handle up to 250 grammes of force.

Being a touch-friendly screen, the user can twist the display, swipe and tap around the laptop hybrid. It features 6GB RAM, 500GB of hard drive storage and several ports and sockets as well as four speaker stereos and a built-in dual array microphone.

Its processor is an Intel i7-3537U, i5-3337U and Mobile Intel HM77 Express Chipset. One downside, though, it its battery life lasts only for about 4.5 hours.

Best Buy will make available this device beginning May 17 for $999 but started to take pre-orders on Saturday, May 4.

The R7 has a smaller version, the P3 which features an 11.3-inch screen, a 5MP rear camera and 720p HD front-facing camera. It is priced at $800.
