Actor Of 'The Big Bang Theory' Teams Up With Real Life Husband And Gets Script Commitment From CBS
Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette in "The Big Bang Theory," is reportedly co-writing a multi-camera comedy script with her husband, Winston Rauch.
The Hollywood Reporter (THR) is reporting that CBS has given a script commitment to the comedy, which is titled "If We're Not Married by 30." This Warner Bros. TV comedy is about a guy "who comes to collect on a pre-teen promise made by his childhood best friend -- whom he hasn't seen in more than a decade," according to THR. Melissa and Winston are also going to co-executive produce this show.
This is not the first time that the Rauch couple have teamed-up to write a script. They also co-wrote the movie "The Bronze" for Sony Pictures Worldwide. According to THR, Melissa and Winston have been co-writing since 2005.
Melissa is not the only actor from "The Big Bang Theory" to get some kind of commitment for a show from CBS. In fact, Kevin Sussman, who plays Stuart in the show, has sold his multi-camera comedy, "Wife Of Crime," to CBS. He is the co-executive producer on the show. The comedy, which he has also written, is about a guy who gets married in an Italian family that has connections to Italian mobs.
According to THR, Sussman's written comedy is about a "straitlaced guy from Staten Island who marries into an Italian family with ties to the mob and finds himself drawn to the warmth of his new crime family."
Meanwhile, it was reported last year that Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard in "The Big Bang Theory," has sold his show to Fox. Comedy writer Ricky Blitt teamed up with Galecki and producer Stephen McPherson for "Here's Your Damn Family," a multi-camera comedy. Earlier this year, it was reported that David James Elliott has signed on to co-star opposite Jane Kaczmarek in the half-hour pilot episode of "Here's Your Damn Family." There has been no report about this show after February.
Melissa, Sussamn and Galecki are currently starring in Season 8 of CBS' hugely popular comedy "The Big Bang Theory."
