Meanwhile, Adam's acting debut film, "Begin Again" opens worldwide on different dates in the same week. In the film, Adam and Keira play Dave and Greta, college sweethearts and musical collaborators who move to New York City together when Dave lands a recording deal. He then finds some success and this subsequently causes him to lose focus in the relationship and go astray. Greta for her part, is left broken by the development and finds redemption when she encounters Mark Ruffalo's character, Dan, a disgraced music executive. Together they find a way to work together and collaborate to pick up the pieces of their lives.
The comedic drama is Levine's first attempt at a full blown feature film role. He has also enjoyed major success on the small screen as a judge in the singing contest "The Voice" since 2011. His first dabble at acting came when he appeared briefly in "30 Rock" as well as in "American Horror Story." Being a musician also requires some form of acting due to the importance of releasing music videos with singles.
Adam has enjoyed massive success with his band Maroon 5 and the Grammy winning artist is embarking in this new challenge and initial reviews have been positive. While he plays a character not too far from his real-life self with his role in "Begin Again" being that of a musician, tongues are already wagging as to whether the three-time Grammy winner can play more challenging roles in the future.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Levine has always been exposed to Hollywood and the trappings of being an actor. The transition from music to acting is natural and the proximity of the character Dave to his own life is a fitting opportunity for him to foray into the movies for the first time.
Adam admits that doing the movie was something that he wanted to do for the experience and in fact is doing it for no money. In an interview with USA Today, Adam elaborates on how he is lucky to be in the position that he is in where he can do the things that he loves and now because he needs a pay check.
