Adam Sandler, Hollywood actor, comedian, producer and screenwriter, has just earned the title of Forbes 2013 Most Overpaid Actor. According to Forbes Magazine, Sandler is being paid up to $15 million for his films including "That's My Boy" and "Jack and Jill," but these films aren't earning as much as the studios hoped they would, especially considering Sandler's huge talent fee as well as how much the films actually cost to make (about $80 million or so).
Forbes Magazine claims that Sandler's films "Jack and Jill," which was shown in 2011 and "That's My Boy," which was shown in 2012, didn't fare well. For the amount of money Sandler is paid to appear in these films, Forbes estimates that the films that Sandler made only returned an average of $3.40.
In the 2012 film "That's My Boy," Sandler starred as Donny along with costars Adam Samberg who played Todd and Leighton Meester, who played Jamie. "That's My Boy," reportedly had an estimated $70 million budget, but it only earned $57 million! It was a certified flop and a huge disappointment.
Meanwhile, "Jack and Jill," wherein Sandler played dual roles of fraternal twins Jack and Jill Sadelstein, only grossed $150 million. It seems like a hit, but when you take into consideration the estimated $80 million used to make it, and then subtract the cost of advertisement fees, it means the studio that made the said film only took about $70 million for "Jack and Jill."

However, it's not all bad films for the 47-year-old Sandler. He does have some hits tucked under his belt, including "Grown Ups 2," the 2013 sequel to the 2010 film "Grown Ups." In the said films, Sandler starred as Lenny Feder along with costars Kevin James, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello. "Grown Ups 2," reportedly had an estimated $80 million budget but grossed $246 million in the box office. In addition, Sandler's animated film "Hotel Transylvania," grossed $358 million worldwide, which is his biggest hit to date.
Aside from Adam Sandler being named as the Forbes 2013 Most Overpaid Actor, other actors were also included in the list. Forbes compiled its 2013 Most Overpaid Actors list based on each of the actor's talent fees, the last three films that they starred in over the past three years up to June 1, 2013 and the expenses and budgets of the films. Forbes then calculated a return on investment (ROI) number for each actor and then computed the average of those numbers to get the overall return cost. In 2012, Eddie Murphy topped the Forbes Most Overpaid Actors list, with an average of $2.30 ROI for every dollar he was paid.
