Police has yet to catch the 17-year-old Cavan escapee who has taunted authorities on Facebook for being unable to stop him even as seven other escapees aged 16 to 19 have been recaptured.

Shane Henderson, who boasted about his escape on Facebook, cut through fences to escape the Cavan Training Centre on Monday night. Seven other youths escaped with him, but police were able to seize them back within 24 hours.

Cavan is a centre for young males who have been convicted and detained or who are on remand until their court matters are finalised.

An SA Police spokeswoman told Adelaide Now police had seen the page and were still investigating.

On a Facebook profile page named Chopper Hendo, Henderson posted a screenshot of a news story on the Cavan escape, and commented: "how about that!!" Adelaide Now reports.

Henderson's friends left comments on his post, wishing him luck.

Chief Inspector Alby Quinn said police were still gathering information regarding the Cavan escape.

"It's obvious he'll be under a great deal of stress and pressure and SA Police will continue to pursue him until he is located and arrested," Insp Quinn said.

A full lockdown was ordered on Wednesday at the Cavan centre, during which a major search for weapons and other equipment that could be used in another escape attempt was conducted by security staff.
