Adele cancels Phoenix, Arizona concert due to illness, posts apology on social media
'I'm sorry to let you down,' the 'Hello' singer says
British singer Adele just announced that she can’t perform on her scheduled concert in Phoenix, Arizona in the US. Instead of negative feedback, her fans threw support and words of encouragement to the musical icon, who admitted she’s feeling under the weather.
In a video she posted on her personal social media accounts, the 28-year-old singer – stripped down of her signature makeup and hairstyle – apologised to her fans for cancelling her show this evening at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The “Hello” crooner looked and sounded ill, her voice sounding weak as she explained her situation.
“I can’t do my show tonight…I am really really sorry,” she said in the video. “I’ve had a cold for a couple of days… and I pushed too hard, and my cold has gotten the better of me. She continued that even if she did the show, “it wouldn’t be very good.”
Admitting that cancelling a show is something she doesn’t want to do, Adele also said that she tried her best and did warm-ups, but nothing happened. She repeatedly expressed her regrets, especially for those who flew in just to see her perform. However, she also said that she has to look after herself considering that she still has several shows to do.
She wrapped up her video, which has since earned more than 20,000 likes and has been re-tweeted almost 5,000 times, with a promise to reschedule her concert. “I will come back and smash it for you,” she assured her fans.
Adele’s performance tonight was supposed to be a two-night engagement. Her concert in Phoenix, Arizona is part of her North American tour, which kicked off early in July in St Paul, Minnesota. It came on the heels of her European stops, and is scheduled to be concluded by November this year.
