Adele graces cover of Time, says she’s open to acting and has grand plans for upcoming tour
Rumour has it that Adele is ready to show her acting chops in the big screen, but she says she would only consider it if it involves her “Hello” video director Xavier Dolan.
The 27-year-old British singer revealed this on Time, which featured her for its cover story in December 2015, which was released yesterday.
She shared that working with Dolan was such a special experience and that she’s willing to do it again for him. “I’ve been pretty spoiled with him,” she told Time. “He just knows what he’s doing. I have no interest in acting for the foreseeable future, at all, especially while I’m doing my music, because I can’t give my all into two things, but I would consider it for him.”
Adele also candidly disclosed her social media habits, especially when she was writing her recent record-breaking album, “25.” The singer admitted that she had to go on a hiatus, at least on social media, so she can concentrate on writing her album.
“How am I supposed to write a real record if I’m waiting for half a million likes on a f—ing photo? That ain’t real,” she said.
Adele’s decision is a small price to pay, considering that her album has shattered sales records since its release on Nov. 18. In its first week alone, “25” sold 3.38 million copies in the US, clinching the biggest first-week sales in history.
Up to now, the singer is incredulous about her success. She even said that it’s ridiculous, considering that she’s not from the US. However, she thinks it’s because a lot of people can relate to her and the music she writes. “Even though my music is melancholy, there’s also joy in that,” she told Time. “I hope I do bring joy to people’s lives, and not just sadness, but I think there’s a comfort in it.”
Speaking more about her music, Adele also shared that she has grand plans for her upcoming world tour. “I’m not just going to stand there!” she said. “I really would like to fly through the arena for the beginning, but no one’s having it.”
Adele will kick off her European tour on February 29, 2016 in Belfast, UK. She will also perform in multiple shows in cities across the US, Canada and Mexico from July 5, 2016.
In her interview with Time, Adele also talked about motherhood, streaming, possibility of doing duets, as well as her opinion on other artists. The December 2015 issue of Time is now available.
