AFL News: Usain Bolt To Watch Sydney Swans v. Hawthorn Hawks At MCG
Sprint star and world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, is scheduled to watch the grand finale of the Australian Football League between Sydney Swans and Hawthorn Hawks. The Jamaican sprinter is currently in Sydney with friends and wants to attend the final of AFL next Saturday.
Bolt has previously visited Melbourne because his niece, Erica Myers, lives there. In 2012, he trained and played soccer with the Melbourne Heart Players. He is known for partying during off season. He came in town with his brother Sadiki and was often seen in night clubs at Crown. He is excited to watch the biggest game of the year at the MCG.
Bolt sided with Sydney, who thrashed North Melbourne in a one-sided game. "I hate picking ... I'll go for Sydney,'' he said on the Channel 9 program as reported by Herald Sun. Sydney's record throughout the season has been overwhelming. Not surprisingly, Lance Fanklin's five goals pushed Sydney Swans to a demolishing 71-point preliminary victory over North Melbourne.
During the game, the 48,028 fans present celebrated in style for Adam Goodes's 350th game. Goodes, who is among the three of the most senior players in the team, scored three goals in a knock out game. He has now scored a total of 435 goals in his career, 26 of which were scored this season. Saturday's game might as well be Goodes' last. With his current form, he will want to end his career on a high.
Sydney's coach praised his team for an all-round show in an important game. "It was a good all-rounder performance to start as we did against a team that's won six games in a row and came up full of confidence," he said in an interview with Herald Sun. "From the first bounce we went about it in a really professional manner and did what we had to do. It was a really well-rounded win."
On the other hand, Hawthorn Hawks edged past Port Adelaide to win a nail-biting thriller. They won by a three-point margin after leading by 29 points midway through the final quarter. In addition, the younger players stepped up for Hawks. Adelaide can take home the fact that they fought till the end.
