After 20 years, Jackie Chan is back at work in Australia for sci-fi thriller 'Bleeding Steel’
Upcoming movie is the biggest Chinese production to ever shoot in the country
Actor Jackie Chan has recently been spotted in Sydney as he gears up to shoot the science fiction thriller “Bleeding Steel.” Considered to be the largest Chinese production ever to be filmed in the country, the movie will feature the famous Sydney Opera House especially in its opening shots.
The 62-year-old actor, named the world's second highest paid actor in 2015 according to Forbes, last worked in Australia in 1996 for the movie “Mr Nice Guy.” This time, he is set to perform his signature stunts at the iconic Sydney Opera House, which has served as a backdrop for some of the most popular films including “Day After Tomorrow,” “Godzilla” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.” In “Bleeding Steel,” Chan will reportedly climb all the way to the top of the building and jump off its roof.
Chan admits that he is quite familiar with Australia, having stayed in the country for a couple of years. The “Rush Hour” actor told reporters at a press conference that he knows his way around Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne. “I love working here, any chance we come back here, because we know the crew,” he said, according to a report by ABC. “We know everybody here,” he added.
“Bleeding Steel,” which is directed by Leo Zhang, has filmed in some parts of the city, including in Broadway and Sydney University. In the movie, Chan plays a hardened Special Forces agent who is bent on protecting a young woman, who becomes a witness of a sinister conspiracy, according to the Internet Movie Database, or IMDb.
Australian actors are set to join Chan in the film, including “Alien: Covenant” actress Tess Haubrich and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” actor Callan Mulvey. Other “Bleeding Steel” cast members are Nana Ouyang, Show Luo and Erica Xia-Hou.
“Bleeding Steel” is scheduled for release in cinemas in 2017.
