After Fast & Furious, Vin Diesel Lending His Voice for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Character?
Vin Diesel is visibly enjoying keeping his current involvement with the Marvel universe under wraps. He invited speculation by posting an image of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' character 'Groot'on his Facebook page. Speculations were that Diesel would be lending his voice to either the main villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thanos, or 'Groot' of 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. As it turns out, the latter seems to be the case.
If he comes on board, Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious) will play 'Groot', the tree-like alien in the James Gunn directed movie. He posted a picture of the character on his Facebook page but later took it down.
On July 9 Diesel posted, "Marvel meeting today. Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed."
The 'Groot 'character is a giant talking tree that absorbs wood to increase strength and recover from injuries as well as control other trees. While hyper-intelligent, the alien's dialogue is restricted to only saying 'I am Groot' over and over.
Deadline.com claims that their sources confirm that Diesel is in talks for the role of Groot but the deal must not be locked down since Marvel didn't take advantage of the D23 event this weekend to bring him out on stage. Perhaps each little hint Diesel puts up on Facebook is part of his negotiation plans. It won't be long before we know who's really voicing 'Groot' and nevertheless since its Marvel, it will be a high profile actor because this one just might be Marvel Studios' boldest venture till date.
The film co-stars Chris Pratt, Glenn Close and Benicio Del Toro. Guardians of the Galaxy will open in the UK on 1 August 2014.
The 'Fast & Furious' star chose not to answer questions or reveal anything about the deal. The wait for all Vin Diesel fans will end when he updates the news on his Facebook page!
