After 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire" Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Hannah Kent's "Burial Rites" Film Adaptation
After Suzzane Collins Hunger Games adaption, Jennifer Lawrence could be seen in the adaption of the recently released novel "Burial Rites" by Hannah Kent. The novel has released last month and has got rave reviews by book critics. Rumors are that following the success of "Hunger Games" trilogy, director Gary Ross would be adapting "Burial Rites" into a film. According to Deadline, Jennifer Lawrence would be starring in the "Burial Rites" big screen adaption. She would be seen playing the role accused murderer Agnes Magnúsdóttir. After Hunger Games franchise this would be her second inning with director Gary Ross Lionsgate is in negotiations with Hannah Kent for the release of the movie.
"Burial Rites" tells the story of Agnes who has allegedly killed her master and is sent to live away at farms before her execution. She stays with a family at the farms and soon the family gets to see the side of Agnes story. The book is set in 19th century Iceland and was named as the best book in Amazon September reviews.
The books begin with an intriguing paragraph,
"They said I must die. They said that I stole the breath from men, and now they must steal mine. I imagine, then, that we are all candle flames, greasy-bright, fluttering in the darkness and the howl of the wind, and in the stillness of the room I hear footsteps, awful coming footsteps, coming to blow me out and send my life away from me in a gray wreath of smoke. I will vanish into the air and the night. They will blow us all out, one by one, until it is only their own light by which they see themselves. Where will I be then?"
We hope that the film adaption of "Burial Rites" starring Jennifer Lawrence is as riveting as the novel.
