Filipina beauties are on fire! After the recent win of Megan Young of the Philippines in the 2013 Miss World beauty pageant, will the country's Miss Universe bet Ariella Arida bring home the elusive crown?

Miss Universe-Philippines

Young is now in the history books as the very first Filipina to win the Miss World crown for over 60 years of the pageantry's existence. The pressure begins to unfold in the 2013 Miss Universe pageant that will be held in a month's time in Russia.

The current Miss Universe-Philippines candidate Ariella Arida is making a buzz even if the competition has not yet started. This may be a good sign for her after her predecessor Janine Tugonon almost snatched the crown from 2012 Miss Universe winner Olivia Culpo of the United States.

The 24-year-old Filipio beauty queen is a runway model and previously a contender at the Miss Philippines-Earth 2012. This 5 feet and 7.5 inches tall lady was a chemistry graduate from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and loves outdoor games.

Her quest for the Miss Universe crown started when she won 2013 Miss Universe-Philippines title at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on April 14, 2013. She had 6 months to prepare for the competition and is gearing up to be next Filipina to win the Miss Universe title after Margarita Moran won over 40 years ago in 1973.

Arida's winning answer to the question of judge Director General Alan Purisima of the Philippine National Police, "What lesson in life can women teach men?"

"One lesson in life that we, women, can teach men is being sensitive. Because we all know that men are more logical when it comes to decision. They usually are more rational, straight forward. Unlike we, women, we use our heart and we tend to get emotional in some of our decisions. For me, sensitivity is something that we can teach men."

The much awaited 62nd Miss Universe pageant will be held on Nov. 9, 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.
