Ahead of Chinese President's Visit, Tibetan Sets Himself on Fire in New Delhi
The struggle for Tibet's freedom has been a long one. In the last few years there have been innumerable self-immolations across the Tibetan plateau - 30 in the past year alone. Yet, no end seems to be in sight. China claims Tibet as its territory and reinforces its claim, while the Tibetans fight for their freedom and independence.
On Monday, March 26th, a Tibetan protestor set himself on fire in India's capital, New Delhi in protest. China's President Hu Jintao is to visit New Delhi later in the week for a summit meeting. Hundreds of protestors marched across the city as a show of their dissent. They were carrying banners that read: "Tibet is not part of China."
Here's a look at the protest in pictures. A word of caution: The images are disturbing. It may be best not to view them, if you feel you may be affected by their graphic nature.
