Canadian-born rock singer Alanis Morissette announced on Monday that she and her rapper boyfriend, who she started dating last year, are already married.

People magazine reported that Morisette and MC Souleye (Mario Treadway) got hitched in a small ceremony at their Los Angeles home on May 22.

The Grammy-winning musician did not give any details when she announced on Twitter and Facebook the good news.

"Hi guys! So happy to share with you that my man Souleye and I got married," she wrote.

"We're very excited to embark on this journey with each other."

Morisette, who is best known for the 1995 song "You Oughta Know" which was for an ex-boyfriend, was previously engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds but called off the relationship in 2007.
