Alastair Cook to Outperform Tendulkar, says Kevin Pieterson
Alastair Cook, Captain of the England Cricket team was lauded by batsman Kevin Pieterson, who said that Cook is slated to become one of the all time greats in Cricket.
The proof? Cook has the ability to equal the amount of runs in test cricket as the legendary Sachin Tendulkar of India."
Pieterson referred to matching Sachin's runs as mindboggling.
He was quoted by Yahoo India as saying, "For me he's the right man to lead England, he's doing a great job for us and he will continue to get better and better and break every record any one's ever set, certainly in the English game."
Considering his age, Cook is all set to overtake Tendulkar's records from looking at his numbers.
Pietersen was speaking to Darren Gough in an interview when he voiced his opinion.
Cook is just 28 in comparison to Sachin who is 40. And going by numbers, Cook trails Sachin by 8,313 runs - a projection of the current figures places Cook in great shape.
Sachin's contribution to test cricket an admirable 15837 runs: That figure is 2000 more runs than Ricky Ponting who tags at second since his retirement from the game..
Impressed with Cook's talent, Pietersen added, “His first series was against India away and we beat India. He's done exceptionally well, his cricket just keeps getting better and better," reports Yahoo.
