Sydney FC and A-League fans will continue to enjoy Alessandro Del Piero as news of his extension for another season it the club becomes official. His talents carries on with Sydney FC as his renewed contract lasts until 2014. But his is 27-meter wonderstrike was not enough as the club crashed to a 2-1 defeat.

"Sydney once again. Now it's official, I have renewed my contract with Sydney FC for one more year. That's what I wanted, and that's what the club wanted. My choice, our choice. I still have a lot to do in Sydney and I don't want to stop. I'm happy to stay in Australia, and my choice apart from football career includes also my life and my family. I just love being here, we all feel at home and really welcomed by this extraordinary country," he said in a press conference.

But his magic didn't save the Sydney FC to 2-1 defeat to A-League strugglers Perth Glory. Glory goalkeeper Danny Vukovic could only watch in amazement as Del Piero produced a thunderbolt in 28th minute to level the score at 1-1. But Shane Smeltz's 34th minute volley was enough for Perth to secure all three points, lifting the Glory back within three points of the sixth spot.

"I though we had arguably the better chances in the first half, and we had clear-cut penalty that wasn't given. But you can't complain about it - you get some, you don't get some," Farina said noted by TheAustralian.com.au.

Even with Sydney FC standing, Del Piero tops the latest poll of Goal.com. Juventus legend Alessandro Del Pierro has claimed his eighth Goal of the Week accolade following his effort against Perth. Following Del Pierro spot is Omar Abdulrahman in second place and Eidur Gudjohnsen in third spot.
