Alicia Silverstone Reunites with 'Clueless' Cast for L.A. Filmfest
Cast members attend outdoor screening of their 1995 film
19 years after the release of the iconic pop culture flick "Clueless," the main cast is back together for a small reunion. Alicia Silverstone (Cher), Stacey Dash (Dionne) and Elsa Donovan (Amber) all made an appearance for a special free outdoor screening of the 1995 film on May 6, 2014. The screening and Q&A session with the stars was part of the opening festivities for the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Director Amy Heckerling and costume designer Mona May were also present at the event. Alicia Silverstone looked as fresh and chic as her character Cher, who became a fashion icon for preppy teenagers all over the world in the mid-90s. Everyone wanted to look like her and speak like her. Cher's best friend in the movie, Dionne, played by actress Stacey Dash who wore more risqué outfits in the film, is now a picture of absolute class at 47.
Before being called "Clueless," the film was originally intended to be a TV series with possible titles like "Clueless in California" and "I Was a Teenage Teenager." The film was actually based on a Jane Austen novel entitled "Emma," a fact that even Alicia Silverstone was not aware of when she made the film. Other interesting facts include Stacey Dash being 27 when the movie was shot and already had a six year old child at the time.
Alicia Silverstone has since starred in several other films, TV shows and is also an author of a handful of books and Web sites on motherhood and healthy living. Dash has also enjoyed a career which included various film and television appearances. Immediately following her role in "Clueless," Donovan scored parts on films and TV shows "A Night at the Roxbury" and "Sabrina the Teenage Witch."
Brittany Murphy, who was also a part of the cast, was one of the most successful alumni. She appeared in lead roles in several romantic comedies and various feature films before her untimely demise in 2009.
