The announcement of Pokemon X and Y's rare and free Celebi event Pokemon, which will be available once you access the Pokemon Bank, is one of the highlights of the Nintendo Direct.

Those who are interested about the upcoming games for both the 3DS and the Wii U will be happy to know that Nintendo has many plans already laid out for both gaming devices, although most of them are coming in spring of 2014.

NES Remix Brings Back the Classics on Wii U

Nintendo is putting a new spin to your favorite NES titles by tweaking it and bringing it to the Wii U. Also announced at the Nintendo Direct, The Verge reported that the changes to some of the titles that will be landing as an NES Remix will have new challenges and levels to give them a slightly rehauled feel.

One of these examples is the Super Mario Bros. played backwards. As you can see in the trailer below, other ways that the NES Remix will challenge you with the Super Mario Bros. game is to have you play it in the dark or even have the landings disappear as you're gathering coins and defeating enemies.

According to reports, some of the other games that will be getting remixed include The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Ice Climber.

New Zelda Title Temporarily Dubbed Hyrule Warriors

Another anticipated title that's going to be an exclusive for the Wii U platform is the newest The Legend of Zelda game called Hyrule Warriors.

According to Joystiq, what's so far known about the game is that Link will be displaying his swordsmanship to cut down enemies in the style of Dynasty Warriors. However, don't expect this to be the much-awaited new Zelda game, as it is merely a collaborative effort that will be launched in 2014.

This will most probably get Zelda fans through the additional wait for the actual new installment game for The Legend of Zelda.

3DS Will Get Yoshi's New Island In 2014

One of the free DLCs for Sonic, Lost World has been revealed to be Yoshi's Island Zone, where you can either play as Sonic or Yoshi, this isn't the only update for the Yoshi's Island game.

While the DLC has already been released, you can also look forward to the sequel, coming in 2014 to the Nintendo 3DS. Titled Yoshi's New Island, Polygon reported that will be a project headed by Takashi Tezuka of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, a game that was released in 1995.

Some Mario Games Coming In

Aside from the altered challenges in the NES Remix, there's also a big chunk of Mario games coming out, starting with Dr. Luigi, the puzzle series that follows the footsteps of the Dr. Mario series.

According to GameSpot, it will debut in North America on Dec. 31, and will come to Europe on Jan. 15, 2014. For this particular game, you can enjoy multiplayer modes, mini game, and the Dr. Mario mode that can be played via online multiplayer for rankings.

Another Mario game coming in is the Mario Kart 8, where a new playable character will be joining the gang in the form of Rosalina. The game will be debuting on the Wii U in spring of 2014.
