Demonstrators in Ferguson, Missouri, gathered in intense heat on Saturday to pray and mark two weeks since a white police officer shot dead an unarmed black teenager, while supporters of the officer said in a separate rally miles away that the shooting was justified. No arrests were recorded overnight, marking three consecutive relatively calm nights for the St. Louis suburb following daily unrest since Michael Brown, 18, was shot by Ferguson officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9. Ever since Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson resigned, he has not exactly been trawling the streets for money, nor does he really need to knock on doors for an alternative job. Donations have been pouring into his coffers.

Wilson has been on paid administrative leave from the Ferguson Police Department since Aug. 9, when he killed an unarmed teenager, Michael Brown. It works out to about $66,000 per year. The Bureau of Labour Statistics shows that the mean hourly wage for an officer in the St. Louis area is about $36, according to msnbc.com.

However, after that source of funds dries out, he is not likely to get an alternative job. Over the past four months, he has been hiding out, stressed and fearful of being recognized and mauled by a mob for having killed Michael Brown. The 28-year-old officer told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he is handing in his resignation because of the death threats to the police force. "I'm not willing to let someone else get hurt because of me," says Wilson. Mayor James Holmes has said that he would not be given a severance package.

His life is looking up as ABC News organized a paid interview with him, giving him a "mid-to-high" six-figure fees, according to gotnews.com. So the former Ferguson cop has enough funds to keep him going for quite a while. Darren Wilson's anonymous supporter has been collecting funds, which might actually make him a millionaire. It has been raised by an unknown woman who has started three Facebook pages for him: "We Are Darren Wilson," "I Support Officer Wilson" and "Support Darren Wilson."

The anonymous woman said that so far, $500,000 have been raised for him. This was just a "conservative" estimate, she added. It might even go upto seven figures. It is "possible" that the funds collected so far have shot up to $1 million dollars, she says. Her first act was to start selling "I Stand By Darren Wilson" shirts and wristbands at various parts of the St. Louis area. In the "We Are Darren Wilson" page she has a GoFundMe account, which was put up in early November. However, only $2,075 has been raised so far through this page. An earlier GoFundMe account that had been funded by his supporters who raised more than $235,000 before abruptly shutting down in early September. Another page was run by the police organization and certified charity Shield Of Hope, which had raised nearly $200,000 before it closed down in September.

The anonymous Wilson supporter said that the funds have been raised to help Wilson pay for legal fees. and help his family to build up its life over the next few months, she said. She does not want to be named. Her father too, like Michael Brown, had "made a mistake," she said. She explained that she was moved by Wilson's case because her grandfather too had been a St Louis County police officer but her father had died when he made the "bad choice" of taking on police officers.
