Amal Clooney looks to replace 450,000 pounds engagement ring for something simpler
Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney will not wear her 450,000 pounds (AU $950367.41) engagement ring when she handles serious cases. The 37-year-old feels that the ring given by her Hollywood heartthrob husband George Clooney is too bling for her human rights work. She is now on the hunt for a new engagement ring.
The lawyer is all set to replace her emerald cut diamond ring when working on serious court cases. She has been shopping in upmarket jewellers Cartier for a platinum band. “Amal has told friends she wants a more understated engagement ring specifically for when she’s working on serious cases. People constantly stop her and admire it for a closer look," a source said talking to Mirror UK.
The insider told that it was a huge rock and there was no hiding it. He added that Amal loved the ring and will not do away with it; rather she would opt for something much more unfussy and simpler for her serious human rights cases. The inside further added that she visited Cartier, Mirror UK reports. George has understood her requirement and is supportive of his wife.
George had handpicked and gifted his wife a seven-carat ring for his proposal in April 2014. The A-list couple tied the knot in September 2014. They exchanged wedding bands with Amal’s being diamond encrusted. After they tied the knot, Amal moved her engagement ring to her right hand.
The British-Lebanese lawyer works at London’s prestigious Doughty Street Chambers and has represented many high profile people including WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and Yulia Tymoshenko, the former Prime Minister of Ukraine. In January it was revealed she would represent Armenia in a high-profile case against a Turkish politician who denies that the 1915 genocide ever took place.
Meanwhile, in another development, the “The Monuments Men” star has built a love nest on the banks of their island in the River Thames. Exclusive pictures obtained by The Daily Star, shows a swing on the outside, the house also has a wood burner and stairs leading to the waterway. The quaint cottage is one of the many renovations carried out to their nine-bedroomed £10 million (around AU $20 million) riverside mansion in Berkshire.
