Former 'Hairspray' actress Amanda Bynes has announced her retirement from acting at the ripe old age of 24.

Bynes took to her Twitter account to make the announcement. "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem," she tweeted. "If I don't love something anymore I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it."

However, the leggy blonde did acknowledge the fact that may be a little young to call it quits. She went on to say, "I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first. I've retired."

Bynes is considered to be somewhat of a veteran in showbiz, having had an early start at only years 10 of age as a part of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy, 'All That'. She then went on to have her own show on the network, 'The Amanda Show'.

After the show ended in 2002, Bynes made a leap to film by starring in 'Big Fat Liar', alongside 'Malcolm in the Middle' actor Frankie Muniz. Bynes then starred in a television sitcom with 'Beverly Hills 90210' alum Jennie Garth about two sisters in 'What I Like About You."

She also had several box-office hits such as 'Robots', 'She's the Man' and her biggest hit yet, a movie adaptation of Broadway musical, 'Hairspray'.

Her last film to be released following her retirement announcement is the comedy "Easy A", which co-stars 'Zombieland's' Emma Stone, due in theatres on September 17.
