If there's one mystery that the X-Files should be working on it is the case of "Amazing Race" director Jeff Rice's death. The 39-year- old American was found dead at his hotel room in Uganda with many speculations regarding his death.

What killed the director: overdose or deliberate poisoning?

Jeff Rice was described as the "ideas man" because his mind was constantly working on what could be improved or what new ideas could be tried. In a surprising turn of events, the man described as the life of the set has died from what police speculate as a cocaine overdose.

Rice was found lifeless in his hotel room at Uganda. Also in the same room was his production assistant, Catherine Fuller, who was found unconscious.

Earlier reports stated that Fuller was found critically ill because of the overdose, but recent reports now claim she's in a coma.

Police who arrived first on the scene had stated that the two victims had been overdosing on cocaine but autopsy reports done on Jeff Rice show that no trace amounts were found in the nasal drip leading to the stomach.

Large concentrations of cocaine where instead found in both the bodies, which other reports claim as a botched smuggling operation. Another source claims that both Fuller and Rice were forced to ingest large amounts of cocaine after what was said a "failed shakedown."

Interviewed by the Daily Mail, Jeff Rice's widow, Sally Blackman, refused to speculate on her husband's death. As of now she is leaving all investigations to both the hands of the Ugandan and American investigators.

"I would not like to speculate or even attempt to give my views on this as this may jeopardise the investigation going forward," said Blackman.

However, her brother gave MSNBC his own ideas of the death of his brother-in-law.

"There's so much stuff in the air about possible poisoning, all that kind of stuff. At the moment, we're trying to get Jeff's body out of there to get some answers," said Paul Blackman.

While investigations continue, Jeff Rice's family and friends are mourning their great loss.

"Our 'Amazing Race' team is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Jeff's untimely death," said Van Munster.

"The show is not in production right now, but we have utilized Jeff's company on several occasions over the course of the series to help with advance work when the 'Race' visited Africa. He was well liked and his work was highly respected."
