Amazon Lists 'GTA 5' for PC
Amazon France just posted a product listing for a "Grand Theft Auto 5" PC version, suggesting Rockstar's widely popular open-world game is finally coming to the platform. A "GTA 5" PC version remains unannounced officially, and Rockstar is still unavailable to comment about this. Amazon France has a reputation of spilling details on new, unannounced retail products. The Web site was responsible for giving the first details on "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2," software sets for "Ratchet and Clank," "Splinter Cell" and "Prince of Persia" as well as Team Ico games "Shadow of the Colossus" and "Ico."
The "GTA 5" PC version is now available for pre-order on Amazon France. The platform requires Windows XP or Vista or 7. There were rumours of an upcoming "GTA 5" PC release date after a video clip of what seems to be the PC version was leaked online. The video was posted on YouTube but was quickly removed with YouTube claiming a copyright infringement from Take-Two Interactive, the New York publisher that owns Rockstar Games.
"GTA 5" is widely anticipated to come to PC in 2014. In October 2013, several Eurogamer sources said "GTA 5" would be launched for PC in the first months of 2014, while an Intel representative has also said that "GTA 5" is not expected to be exclusive to consoles any much longer. The year 2008's "Grand Theft Auto 4" launched in April for consoles before landing to PC in December of the same year.
While there has been no official confirmation of a "GTA 5" PC version, the successful launch of the title in 2013 yielded $1 billion in sales in only 3 days. There is no doubt that it is only a matter of time before Rockstar releases the PC version, making the title available to other users.
An online petition clamouring for a PC version of the "GTA 5" recently garnered more than 650,000 signatures, making it one of the biggest petitions ever hosted on Change.org. If "GTA 5" comes to PC, it may not be the only new platform for the title. According to rumours, the game will also be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014.
