Amazon To Offer Same-Day Delivery For Some Retailers
Amazon (AMZN) is now offering same-day delivery for Prime members from a number of brick-and-mortar retailers in select areas as it looks to compete with other retail rivals like Walmart and Target.
Prime members that order from stores such as PacSun, GNC, SuperDry, and Diesel through Amazon.com or on the Amazon app will receive their orders the same day when they spend $25 or more on qualifying items. Orders under $25 will be charged $2.99 for the same-day Amazon delivery service.
Some stores also offer the option to buy online and pickup in-store.
The new same-day delivery service is being rolled out to Prime members in 10 cities, including in and around Atlanta; Chicago; Dallas; Las Vegas; Miami; Phoenix, Scottsdale, Arizona; Seattle; and Washington D.C. Amazon said it plans to expand to additional cities in the coming months.
The e-commerce retail giant said same-day delivery will also be offered for retailers Sur La Table and 100% Pure in the coming months, with more stores offered in the months ahead.
Amazon Prime members in eligible zip codes will need to select Same-Day Delivery at checkout to have their order delivered to their doorstep the same day. The Amazon website said that orders need to be placed by noon for arrival by 9 p.m. the same day.
“The expansion of Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery to include beloved brands delivered directly from nearby retail locations is just another way we are offering customers even greater selection, at faster speeds,” Sarah Mathew, director of Amazon Delivery Experience, said in a statement. “We are excited to see this new model come to life and look forward to adding more brands, stores, and locations to the program.”
Amazon already offers same-day delivery on thousands of products, including everyday essentials, beauty, pets, toys, electronics, and apparel merchandise.
As of Monday at 1:26 p.m. ET, shares of Amazon were trading at $135.48, up 53 cents, up 0.39%.
