"American Horror Story - Coven" is going to be set in modern day as well as the 1830s. In the modern time, it is set nearly 300 years after the Salem witch trial. The thrd season's first episode of this hit FX horror series features Zoe (Taissa Farminga), a girl who shares the same bloodline as the descendants who belong to the dark, turbulent days of Salem.

"Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction," according to the promo of "American Horror Story- Coven."

Mysterious attacks against those sharing the bloodline escalates and girls such as Zoe are sent to New Orleans based mysterious school, Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, to learn how to defend and protect themselves. Zoe is also "harbouring a secret of her own."

According to the FX synopsis of the first episode, "Bitchcraft" : "A young girl, Zoe, is shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem. Zoe is whisked away to Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, a mysterious school in New Orleans devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline. Harboring a secret agenda, Fiona Goode, the most powerful witch of their generation, returns to town, reigniting old rivalries with the Coven's deadly enemies, the Voodoo."

Jessica Lange is going to portray the role of witch Fiona and Sarah Paulson will be playing her daughter, Cordelia. Danny Huston is the latest to join the cast and will be the portraying the role of Fiona's boy friend. Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Denis O'Hare, Lily Rabe, Gabourey Sidibe, Evan Peters are also part of "American Horror Story - Coven."

Renewed in November, 2012, "American Horror Story," created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, returns for its third season on October 09, 2013.
