‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’--Slender Man Appearance, Character Costumes Sold For Halloween
Season 4 of "American Horror Story" entitled "Freak Show" will reportedly feature Slender Man. Likewise, the character's bizarre popularity has convinced some retail stores in Waukesha County to sell Slender Man costumes for Halloween.
The Daily Dot claims one of the recent teasers for the FX series posted on Monday, shows a freakishly tall and thin man dressed in a suit and holding hands with a somber-looking girl. Although the man's upper body is not revealed, some "American Horror Story" fans claimed he poses a resemblance to Slender Man.
The video was posted to Facebook and Twitter and since then few have shared their speculations on who the "freak show" character is. The video, captioned with "We come in all shapes and guises ... #WirSindAlleFreaks," reportedly draw various reactions from viewers. Some even posted a comparison photo with the "Creepypasta" character, further hinting that "American Horror Story: Freak Show" will supposedly feature Slender Man. However, it's still uncertain whether Season 4 will indeed feature the internet urban legend.
Some fans are clearly intrigued with the possibility of Slender Man's depicted in the series. However, the site claims few also thought it's unwise to feature him, considering the real-life murder that happened in May that was allegedly spurred by the character's influence.
Two 12-year-old girls from Waukesha, WIS were charged with first-degree attempted homicide after stabbing their friend 19 times according to Daily Dot's previous report. The girls claimed they were asked by the fictional character to kill someone as a sign of offering.
Slender Man is described as a tall, faceless suited man with long arms and legs. The character was first introduced in 2009 courtesy of Something Awful. He reportedly kills people by stabbing them on trees or by stalking them to madness.
However, despite his gruesome fictional background, the internet character has allegedly gained so much popularity that he is featured in several video games. Likewise, Fox6now reports Slender Man Halloween costumes are even being sold in Waukesha, the very county where the May murder happened.
Sold for $40 each, residents were surprised at the costume. Slender Man suits are now reportedly being sold in Brookfield at a Party City store and at Spirit Halloween.
"It's horrible. I can't imagine how many people would wear that," Paulette Thompson told Fox6now.
Another resident, Tim Tubbs, called for the stores to stop selling the suits in lieu of the horrific crime. While Chris Sobczak worries the Slender Man costume might only encourage violence.
Fox6news has reached out to the store's corporate offices and has yet to receive any comments regarding the Slender Man Halloween costumes.
