Paulson credits Ryan Murphy for the success of "American Horror Story," as he "spearheaded" the whole idea. The actress feels that T.V is currently the most exciting medium because of the opportunity to play varied roles. She also pointed out that now everyone wants to work on television.

As reported previously, Murphy said to Entertainment Weekly Radio that Paulson will be playing one of the most challenging roles in the fourth edition of "American Horror Story." The actress has learned a new skill to play the role of a performer and has undergone "physical rigorous" to get into the character. Paulson is reportedly playing one of the freak show performers.

Murphy said to EW Radio that Paulson's character is the "most challenging character I've ever created. I'm nervous for Sarah."

In her final "American Horror Story" appearance, Jessica Lange is playing the character of a German ex-pat who will be seen managing one of the final freak shows in the U.S. The freak show is based in Jupiter, Florida but the shooting will take place in New Orleans. The new season is set in 1950.

Murphy wanted to keep the tone of Season 4 light, but he recently said that "it's turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark."

Meanwhile, there are reports that Taissa Farmiga and Lily Rabe are unlikely to feature in the "Freak Show." Farmiga, who played Zoe in "Coven," is busy shooting the movie "The Final Girls," while Lily Rabe, who portrayed Misty in "Coven," has been tapped as the lead of ABC's new alien drama series "The Whisperers."
