At the Comic-Con in San Diego, it was revealed that John Carroll Lynch has been roped in to play a creepy antagonist in the upcoming Season 4 of "American Horror Show." Subtitled "Freak Show," the new season of FX's horror anthology series is said to be completely different from the last three seasons, and is much darker in comparison to the last season, "Coven."

Tim Minear, executive producer of the show, revealed at the Comic-Con that John Carroll Lynch will star in "Freak Show" as "one of the central core villains," according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR). He is the scariest villain who is set to "scare the shit out of you," Minear said.

The executive producer said that the new season of "American Horror Story" is "Douglas Sirk meets Zodiac," THR reports. He also said, as quoted by Huffington Post, that "Freak Show" is the "best season so far" and it is "not like the first three seasons."

The names of Season 4 characters were also revealed at the Comic-Con, which confirmed that the leaked casting sheet on Twitter, apparently by a fan, is not a fake sheet.

Jessica Lange, who will be seen managing one of the remaining freak shows in the U.S., is called Elsa Mars, a German ex-pat. As reported previously, Sarah Paulson is playing conjoined twins, with two heads, Bette and Dot, while Evan Peters' character is called Jimmy Darling and his mother, played by Kathy Bates, is Ethel Darling.

Kathy Bates is ex-wife of Wendell del Tolito. This character is played by veteran actor Michael Chiklis. Tolito is also father of Jimmy and his current wife is Angela Bassett's character, Desiree Dupre. Emma Roberts is portraying the character of Maggie.

Speaking about her character[s], Paulson revealed that Bette is her current favourite character. THR quoted her as saying "It feels very organic to me and I love her."

"American Horror Story-Freak Show" is expected to premiere in October. This season four will be Lange's final "American Horror Story" appearance. The new season is currently under production in New Orleans. The last season, too, was filmed in New Orleans.
