It has been reported that Jessica Lange will not be returning to star in Season 5 of FX's horror anthology series, "American Horror Story." In her last appearance in the popular series, the veteran actress is playing the character of Elsa Mars, a German ex-part who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S. Lange feels that the upcoming season of "American Horror Story" has the potential to be "really" special.

"American Horror Story-Freak Show," according to Lange, is going to be the "most extraordinary" that they have done. In an interview with Hollywood Life, the actress said that she is looking forward to Season 4.

"I think this season is going to be the most extraordinary that we've done. I think that what we've got -- what's working there, the potential is pretty extraordinary. And if it can all come together, and if we can keep on track, I think it's going to be something really, really special," Lange said to Hollywood Life.

Lange, 65, recently won the Emmy for Leading Actress In A Mini Series for her role as Fiona Goode in the previous season, "American Horror Story-Coven."

"American Horror Story" Season 4 is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 09. It is set in the year 1952 in Jupiter, Florida. The cast members are currently shooting the season in New Orleans. The story of "Freak Show" is the story of performers that opens in a "quiet, sleepy hamlet" of Jupiter.

The peace of the hamlet is shattered when a "troupe of curiosities" arrives, according to FX's official synopsis of the show. The arrival of the troupe coincides with the "strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike."

"This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience," according to "American Horror Story-Freak" official plot line.

The performers include conjoined twins with two heads, a bearded woman, a strong-man, the world's smallest woman, the tallest man and more.
