Earlier this year at PaleyFest, Michael Chiklis joined "American Horror Story" team and it was announced that he has been cast to play a key role in Season 4 of FX's anthology horror series.

At the time, it was revealed that the veteran actor will play former husband of Kathy Bates' character and the father of Evan Peters' character. At Critics' Choice Awards, Ryan Murphy, creator of "American Horror Story," spilled more details about Chiklis' character.

Murphy said to TV Line that Chiklis' character is married to a character portrayed by Angela Bassett. He described him as a strong man who is vulnerable. The co-creator of the show also revealed that Chiklis will have scenes with Jessica Lange, who is playing a German expat. She will be seen running one of the last freak shows in the U.S.

"He has scenes with Angela and Jessica Lange and [onscreen ex] Kathy Bates. I love the part because it's really written to be quite vulnerable, which is something I think Michael does so well -- the strong man who's vulnerable. I'm very excited to see [him] tussle with all those great ladies. And he's really up for it, really excited about it," Murphy said to TV Line.

Meanwhile, Bassett has said that she is not playing the bearded woman. According to E! Online, Murphy had told the actress that her role is "even better than that." Bates has said that she knows how her character looks like but she does not know anything about her role.

"It's in the late 1950s in Jupiter, FL, and I know what my character looks like, but I don't know anything else about her. In fact, I've just gone to costume fittings, and we're still developing the character. I haven't seen the script yet, and we start shooting in the middle of July, so time's a-wastin'!" Bates said to Popsugar.

Recently, Sarah Paulson took to Twitter to reveal that she is playing conjoined twins, Dot and Bette. Paulson's character is expected to be one of the performers in the freak show.
