American Idol 2013: How the Traditional Use of "Judges Save" Has Changed in Season 12 of 'American Idol'
Judges' Save is Still On With No Limits!
The judges’ save on American Idol 2013 is still on and its use has no limits! Producers of America’s popular reality television show have confirmed that the powerful save of the judges is still in play and no terms have been laid out as to the time frame of its use. The Seasoon 12 of American Idol has broken traditions on the use of its highly coveted save and the drama continues on the Idol 2013.
One of the highly critical rules of the game on American Idol is the use of powerful save by the judges who grant the immunity to any contender they seem deserve of THE SAVE. The history of American Idol showed that in the last twelve seasons of the still-very-popular reality show (despite the low ratings) the save was used only THREE times: for Casey Abrams, Michael Lynche and Matt Giraud.
The save is usually put in play on Top 5 of every season. The Idol officials have made it a rule for years to use the powerful save until the last five finalists are to perform on stage. This was not the case for Season 12.

American Idol 2013: What “Judges Save” Meant for Idol Contestants and Why It Wasn’t Used on Janelle Arthur [PHOTOS/VIDEO] Click here.
While everyone was expecting that no lady would go home on Top 5 week, Janelle Arthur was sent home. It was an unexpected development for millions of Idol viewers who have been following the popular reality show.
Was it for the ratings after it reached an all time low on Top 6 and 7 Idol weeks? Was it for the drama in hopes to attract more audience? Reports are saying that Janelle Arthur wasn’t saved primarily for both reasons outlined above. But an interesting factor added to the reasons why the save is still in play was the schedule set for the show to run until the finals.
Idol 2013 is set to entertain its audience until its Finale Show earlier dated on May 15, 2013. And according to American Idol Net, the show has an extra week before the next American Idol is named. Does this mean that the save can be put in play until the Top 3 Finalists?
The “no-limit” use of the powerful judges’ save has been hinted in Janelle’s post-elemination interview, whether or not the top 5 finalist was aware that she was making a big revelation for Idol Season 12. Janelle was ousted in Top 5 elimination episode when the judges had split 2-2 decision to save her (or not).
“We thought the week of Lazaro (Arbos’ elimination) was the last week to use it,” Janelle Arthur, was quoted as saying by USA Today, according to American Idol Net, adding “Then they told us they had to use it before the end of the year, but they didn’t really tell us when the cutoff was.”
More questions have been raised as the Season 12 of American Idol 2013 come to a close. Is still safe to use “judges save” on Top 3, at the latest? Doesn’t it lead America on who to choose as its next winner? Anyone saved by the judges could sure leave great impact and impression on people that indeed the saved contestant is worth the vote that will land him the tile as The Next American Idol.
