“American Idol” 2015 aka AI Season 14 Top 8 female hopefuls were revealed in Episode 18, which aired on Mar. 5, Thursday, on Fox. Adanna Duru, Sarina-Joi Crowe and Jax were three of the favourites among netizens, based on YouTube views. This week, the number of contestants will further shrink to 6 female and 6 male hopefuls – the AI 2015 Top 12.

Adanna Duru, Sarina-Joi and Jax all got mixed reviews, but each one of them was a believable contender for the American Idol 2015 title. Even as the judges didn’t appreciate the manner by which Jax changed Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell’s "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," her number has drawn over 75,000 YouTube views, so far.

Jax’s black and blue dress which “broke the Internet” in the same week probably helped her Idol page views. (The same dress was posted by a netizen, who asked why it looked white and gold to some people. The dress photo went viral across social media networks.)

Still, viral factor excluded, Jax has been doing very well on “American Idol” 2015. She is always making strong creative decisions, beautifully standing out in the process. The same could be said regarding Adanna and Sarina-Joi. These three show great potential to be in the Top 8 semi-finalists.

Adanna Duru’s take on Lionel Richie's "Hello" is both tender and intense; dished with the right drama to engage the audience. Sarina-Joi Crowe’s rendition of The Miracles' "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" is a beautiful storytelling moment. Sarina-Joi was remarkable in her sweet and amorous tones.

“American Idol” 2015 judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr gave the Top 12 girls mixed reviews Thursday. The numbers were mostly good, but the last number by Alexis Gomez was quite unforgettable in a bad way. Alexis looked fabulous and charming, but she could’ve sounded a lot better.

Joey Cook’s version of “Shop Around” (by Miracles) could have been a better closing number for Episode 18 of “American Idol XIV.”

Overall, “American Idol” 2015 Episode 18 pales in comparison against Episode 17 featuring the Top 8 male hopefuls. It remains to be seen whether this week’s Episodes 19 and 20 could sustain the trend.
