American Idol and its biggest shocking elimination of James Durbin
He was Randy Jackson’s favorite as he has been consistently proclaimed being a big fan for James. But not even the support of Idol’s long-time and veteran judge could save the 22-year-old rocker from Sta. Cruz, California.
American Idol delivers another shocking elimination Thursday night and its curtain has gone down for James Durbin - - considered the biggest shocking elimination for the season.
He was Randy Jackson’s favorite as he has been consistently proclaimed being a big fan for James. But not even the support of Idol’s long-time and veteran judge could save the 22-year-old rocker from Sta. Cruz, California.
James was with deep-voiced contestant, Scotty McCreery at the bottom two. As Scotty’s name was being called out by Ryan Seacrest to join the final three, Randy Jackson was visibly disappointed, seen shaking his head hearing the decision made by America.
The elimination of one of the most outstanding contestant in the singing competition, known for his heavy metal choices of songs throughout his journey, shocked and had left AI judge Jennifer Lopez shaking watching James take the sad news.
But the biggest shock came from James himself who could not help but cry as he learned that it was his last night onstage on America’s top rated television.
"I was really hoping to get there,” Durbin was quoted as saying in tears by the Associated Press.
The fourth finalist has also maintained that he has done everything he could on the show.
"I did so much stuff that's never been done on this show before," James said, according to Access Hollywood. "In my eyes and my mind and what I believe, I did what I came here to do, which was give metal a chance."
His last performance can be considered one of the most touching one as he sang “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney/Wings with tears streaming down his face. This had been made more emotional as James went down to the audience and hugged his lady love.
Durbin's last performance had also brought tears to Idol judge Lopez visibly shaken up as she watched James bid goodbye to the audience and the American people.
Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart now complete the final three and they will compete on American Idol as they race to the top final two Wednesday next week on FOX.
