American Idol did not deliver much on Wednesday night's live broadcast, even with Jermaine Jones' unnecessarily dramatic exit. Certainly, the show could have just released an official statement about Jermaine's disqualification, but then again, if it's not sensationalized enough, it's not a reality show. American Idol is still, after all, a reality-based singing competition.

Moving on to the part where the contestants sing, there was not much thrill and showstopping moments, but the opening performance by Phillip Phillips was not bad at all.

Jessica Sanchez, the Filipina-Mexican who wowed the audience last week with a stunning performance of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, and Jennifer Hudson's Love You, I do the week prior (both of which received a standing ovation from the judges), surprised the audience with a rather mediocre number tonight. With Gloria Estefan's Turn the Beat Around, she went from winner to airtime filler.

Hollie Cavanagh was a couple of notches above average tonight with her take on Power of Love. Being consistent on the safe side of voting results and never making a total train wreck so far seem to point out this early that Hollie is serious about her journey on Idol this season. In Season 10, where she was first seen, she was extremely shy and hard on herself. The girl seems to have grown up a lot in a year's time.

Despite tonight's slip, the audience will not soon forget Jessica's previous strong performances, so she is likely to stay. If anyone in the girls should worry about getting the boot, it is Elise Testone, who was the girls' bottom vote-getter last week. Judge Jennifer Lopez thought her performance of Let's StayTogether "was right on every level," but she was not exactly magical enough to turn the voters from no-cares to full-attention.

Aside from Phil Phillips, Joshua Ledet gave quite an engaging performance of When a Man Loves a Woman. He got the judges on their feet, this time. Having found himself at the guys' bottom three last week must have pushed a button, making him figure out the right song choice and performance level -- no holding back. With a performance like that, he should not be at the bottom three tomorrow.

With Jermaine Jones and Jeremy Rosado gone, it seems unlikely for Heejun Han to stay a week longer in the competition, especially after his poor performance of Richard Marx's RIght Here Waiting.

That said, the forecast here is: if there really will be an elimination tomorrow, Elise or Heejun will be sent home.

Meanwhile, in true reality show fashion, FOX network did air a footage of how Jermaine Jones received the news of his disqualification on American Idol.

'The talk" was segued to a clip of Jermaine's rehearsal of Somewhere Out There, which he was supposed to perform on Wednesday's Top 12 live broadcast. The twelve was down to eleven even before America could vote, and tomorrow, if there really will be an elimination, America will find out the next batch to go on Idol tour. Incidentally, 11 finalists went on tour in the previous season. Idol audience will tune in tomorrow to find out the next drama on this singing competition.
