'American Idol' celebrates its tenth anniversary after having made its first ever episode ten years ago on Fox. Each season, it aims to find the next big thing in the music industry and has made an unforgettable mark in the history of television.

It has launched numerous great artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Adam Lambert and a lot more.

'American Idol' is one TV show that had its own pains as much as its joys. There was the most hated yet most popular judge of all, Simon Cowell and some pretty odd yet funny choices for a judge like Ellen Degeneres.

Regardless of the many controversies that 'American Idol' has faces, it has found its own success in launching the career of a new artist in almost every genre possible from pop, country, rock, musical theatre, dance, R&B, and even gospel.

Lately though, the pattern has been very distinct with the kind of winners they have been choosing. This has eventually led to the known WGWG or White Guy With Guitar Syndrome. This streak started with the season that David Cook won, then on and on to Kris Allen, Lee Dewyze, Scotty McCreery and the most recent champ Phillip Phillips.
