"American Idol" Season 10 big-winner, Scotty McCreery went down in history along with his hometown, Garner, North Carolina. According to Dayton Daily News, the town is considering naming places where the 10th season victor went to: school, church, workplace, auditorium and park.
The town spokesman Rick Mercier was quoted by Dayton Daily News as saying: "after that, we thought, ummm, maybe we should come up with a little map."
Mercier pointed out that such places that would also be going down to history's archives such as Garner Magnet High School, the First Baptist Church, Lowe's Food Store, the Garner Historic Auditorium and Lake Benson Park.
A number of signages expressing support for Scotty have remained visible in many areas of the town including posters that read, "This is Scotty Country" and life-sized cut out of the Idol winner.
Residents of Scotty's hometown are now busy preparing for the newly crowned winner of America's No.1 singing and reality competition.
"The 14th was our big opportunity to showcase ourselves," Mercier said of Scotty's homecoming visit, noted by Dayton Daily News. "We've been told by other towns with 'Idol' finalists that that's your chance to shine."
Washington Post reported that the Fox Reality TV's champion is the fourth consecutive male to win. McCreery is the first ever country male singer to get the top spot. He nixed the 16-year-old Lauren Alain in an all-country showdown last week's two-hour-plus finale.
