'American Idol XIII' 2014: AI Season 13 Premiere Part 2 Recap [WATCH VIDEOS]

"American Idol XIII" (AI) 2014 Season 13 Part 1 premiered on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. It featured a number of AI Season 13 hopefuls including Marrialle Sellars, Troy Durden, Sam Woolf, Ethan Thompson, Jillian Jenson, Stephanie Hanvey, Austin Percario, Kaitlyn Jackson, Savion Wright and Munfairid Zaid who auditioned in Boston, Massachusetts and Austin, Texas. AI Season 13 judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr. and Keith Urban selected 25 contestants from Boston, Massachusetts and 21 contestants from Texas. So far, there are 46 potential American Idols with golden tickets that are going to Hollywood. The AI Season 13 Premiere is a two-part show, with the second part shown on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 on the Fox TV network. Here's the "American Idol XIII" (AI) 2014 Season 13 Part 2 Recap.

The auditions for the next "American Idol" superstar continued in Austin, Texas at the Frank Erwin Center and the Austin Convention Center.

It featured AI hopefuls such as AI Season 1 contestant Nikki McKibbin's grown-up son Tristen Langley, Jesse Roach, John J. Fox, Steven Curd, Anna Melvin, Ryan Clark, Quiandra Boston-Pearsall, Megan Miller, Spencer Lloyd, Eric Wood, Marlon Lindsey, T.K. Hash, McKenna Dennis and Taylor Stearns who all earned golden tickets to Hollywood!

Some contestants like Megan Miller and Spencer Lloyd paid tribute to past AI contestants and winners like Carrie Underwood and Colton Dixon. T.K. Hash impressed the judges with his Obama impersonation and his amazing vocal skills. AI Season 1 contestant Nikki McKibbin also showed up, this time to support her son Tristen who tried out for auditions.

Here are some comments from the three AI Season 13 judges.

"I'm not sure this is the right type of competition for you," said "Harsh" Harry Connick, Jr. in the AI Season 13 Premiere Part 2 episode.

"Feel like there's real soul there," said JLO in the AI Season 13 Premiere Part 2 episode.

"You've got a great voice, baby," said Urban in the AI Season 13 Premiere Part 2 episode.

After the auditions in Austin, Texas, the next audition city is San Francisco, California. AI hopefuls trying out their luck here had to audition on July 16, 2013 at the AT&T Park. Then, those who passed in this round got to be called back on October 21 and 22, 2013 to audition at the Westin St. Francis in front of the AI Season 13 judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr.

It featured AI hopefuls Rachel Rolleri, Remi Wolf, MK Nobilette, Emmanuelle Zidor, Athena Williford, Caitlin Johnson, David Luning, Selena Moreno, Briana Oakley, Rico Perkins, Aranesa Turner and Adam Roth. All of them got golden tickets and will be going to Hollywood.

This round featured the Moreno twin sisters Selena and Sierra. Unfortunately, only Selena went on to get a golden ticket to Hollywood.

There are a lot of guitar playing contestants with original songs this season compared to AI Season 12 with Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson.

Speaking of AI Season 12, semi-finalists from that season are also given another chance to try out for AI Season 13, except for Tenna Torres and Vincent Powell who are not eligible because of the age limit. This is also true for Aubrey Cleveland because she won the sing-off to be a part of the American Idols Live Tour in 2013.

23-year-old Megan Miller, who was a part of the AI Season 12 came back to audition on AI Season 13 and got a golden ticket to Hollywood again. Briana Oakley who was also on AI Season 12 tried again this time and she succeeded with 3 yeses from the judges.

"That was the wrong chakra," said Urban in the AI Season 13 Premiere Part 2 episode.
