American Idol's Jennifer Lopez, now judged as ‘copy-cat’ of DeLuna song and video
Singer J-Lo appears surprise when asked of surrounding rumors that she sounded and sang like 23-year-old Kat DeLuna.
American Idol’s new frontliner is now being ‘judged’ herself as imitating a song by a relatively unknown performer, 23-year-old singer, Kat DeLuna. The controversial hot mama, according to the NY Daily News was taken aback when a reporter from a Latin American television program, “Despierta America” asked her of the resounding controversy, accusing the multi-awarded, singer-performer of sounding like De Luna in one of her songs.
"What? Really? I'm not aware of that," J-Lo shot back in Spanish at the program’s reporter, Birmania Rios.
The NY Daily News described the 41-year-old Latina as replying to the controversy ‘with nervous expression’. She was also seen looking past the camera and struck a piercing look at her handler, who was standing near her.
In the interview at "Radio City Music Hall" in New York, Rios grilled J-Lo of the reverberating rumor that she allegedly taken influence from Kat DeLuna's "Party O'Clock" in singing and in making her own video, "On the Floor", both produced by RedOne, according to NY Daily News.
Seeing the look on J-Lo’s face, Rios pressed the singer for more details by adding just a little bit of more spice. Rios told the American Idol judge that Kad DeLuna had told her in a separate interview that ‘she’s honored that [Lopez] would copy one of her songs’.
At this point, said the NY Daily News, the Idol judge gave Rios nothing but a ‘forced chuckle’ and maintained having no knowledge about the issue and said: “no, I didn’t hear about it”.
