American Music Awards: The Red Carpet Arrival: What Your Favourite Celebs Wore
Black may have initially dominated the red carpet at the American Music Awards, but some color along the way definitely stole the show.
A number of early birds donned black for their red carpet walk. Katy Perry, in particular, wore a black ball gown by Oscar dela Renta with polka dot and floral details. She finished off her look with a clutch which resembles a hardbound book with handmade cover.
Other celebrities who wore black in the red carpet include Joan Jett, Jaimie Alexander, the members of the band Lady Antebellum and Naya Rivera. Both Ke$ha and Jordin Sparks wore long black gowns with high slits to show their lean legs, while the boys of One Direction combined black with grey to build their outfits.
Midway through the red carpet parade, black began to fade as white paved way. Brandi Cyrus started it off with a white long-sleeved minidress paired with black-and-white heels. Her sister, Miley, on the other hand, played it safe by wearing a white pantsuit. She, however, kicked it up a notch with the deep V of the jacket that exposes her cleavage.
Zendaya Coleman of Dancing With The Stars, Christina Aguilera and sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner also wore white at the red carpet. But Kylie took a cue from Brandi by pairing her white top with black pants, boots and clutch.
Color may be few buy they prove to be the eye-poppers of the entire red carpet entrance. Ariana Grande made her appearance with a sparkly red dress by Dolce and Gabanna, which she paired off with Jimmy Choo heels and a little black clutch. Jennifer Hudson added some cheer to the scene with an orange mullet frock that also showed off her new svelte figure.
Finally, Lady Gaga may be wearing a pale lavender dress from Versace, but a few details made sure she is still the undisputed scene-stealer. Not only did she recreated the 'Donatella' look she sported for Versace's newest ad campaign, she also arrived with a white mechanical horse, taking a cue from the legendary Lady Godiva.
Some metallic colors also made their way in the AMA Red Carpet, the most notable of which was Taylor Swift's gold mini-dress which she paired with gold strappy heels. E! News host Giuliana Rancic also wore a mini-dress, this time, in bronze with black detail.
