American Porn Industry Halts Filming After Porn Star Cameron Bay Tests HIV Positive [PHOTOS]
The pornographic film industry in San Fernando Valley in California has shut down filming starting Wednesday after an actor tested positive for HIV. The actor's sex partners are currently being tested for possible HIV infection by doctors with Adult Production Health and Safety Services, an agency that works with porn artists in maintaining good health.
The porn actress in question is Cameron Bay - a female performer who has worked in the industry since 2010 using names Ashton, Cameron Lane and Ryder. The Free Speech Coalition confirmed in a statement to The Huffington Post Thursday that Bay is indeed HIV positive.
Following two subsequent positive tests on HIV, Bay released a statement saying that she will co-operate with the industry to do anything to assist "the medical professionals and my fellow performers."
"As difficult as this news is for me today, I am hopeful that no other performers have been affected," Bay said in a statement from FSC Thursday. "I plan on doing everything possible to assist the medical professionals and my fellow performers. Following that, my long term plan is to take care of myself and my health."
Following the news, the porn industry was quick to put a stop to all the filming going on until further notice.
Diane Duke, executive director of the industry trade group the Free Speech Coalition, told The Associated Press the moratorium stays until the threat has been lifted, adding that Bay is not believed to have been infected on a film set.
In the past, the porn industry saw a similar moratorium in 2012 after more than 12 actors were infected with syphilis.
"The current situation would bring the number to three cases in nearly 10 years, not just in Los Angeles but nationwide," the statement said.
Cameron Bay has been quite active on Twitter and in fact hinted about her ill health too. "@teazeworld I am flying back to cali tomorrow I had to see my dr," the performer Tweeted on Aug. 19.
"Sorry for checking out I had some stomach issues I feel 2000 times better," read another tweet by her.
Prior to her porn career, Bay was on the first season of VH1's reality TV series "Tool Academy."
