FX's cold-war time spy drama series, "The Americans," is returning for its second season on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Like the first season, the second season will also consist of thirteen episodes.

The new season will see the return of Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys to play their principal roles of Elizabeth and Philips Jennings. In addition, Noah Emmerich, who plays Sandra Beeman, Annet Mahendru, who plays Nina, and Alison Wright, who plays Martha Hanson, will return as series regulars to reprise their roles.

TV Line had reported that Margo Martindale will return to reprise her role of the ruthless KGB secret agent, Claudia. She is likely to appear in an episode. "Sources say this intel is very strong," Joel Fields, executive producer of "The Americans" had said. "She'll be back for at least one episode."

In "The Americans" Season 1 finale, Claudia took revenge for her KGB lover's death. She also argued to keep Elizabeth and Philips away from a tricky, dangerous mission.

Created by former CIA agent, Joe Weisberg, the first season of "The Americans" premiered on Jan 30, 2013. It is reported to be the most-watched drama debut on FX. According to reports, 5.1 million viewers tuned in to watch it.

This period drama revolves around the complicated marriage of two KGB spies - Elizabeth and Philips. These two are based in suburban Washington D.C. and have adopted American identities. The time period is after Ronald Reagan becomes the President of America.

Philips and Elizabeth have two children, Paige and Henry. The children are not aware about their parents' true identity. The marriage between Elizabeth and Philips was arranged for the spying mission; however the relationship gradually becomes more genuine and passionate. In the final episode of "The Americans" Season 1, "The Colonel," Elizabeth asked Philips to "come home" and she says that to him as a wife.
