'The Americans' season 4 episode 11 recap and review: Killer instincts and a broken friendship; spy series to end with seasons 5 and 6

“The Americans” recently aired “Dinner for Seven,” the eleventh episode on Season 4. The show also confirmed that Seasons 5 and 6 will be its last.
Paige and her mother were approached by two men and meant them harm. Elizabeth fought back, almost killing one of them. It was an eye opener for Paige, who was still having difficulty with the revelation of her parent’s espionage life. Now she knows that spy life is not peaceful, like what her parents projected.
As for Elizabeth’s mission on accessing Don’s lab, Gabriel informed her that the request for a different approach to access the lab was denied. She talks to Don and tells him she is pregnant. Don immediately tells her to end the pregnancy.
Philip, Gabriel and an unknown woman disguised as Patty’s family paid Don a visit in his laboratory. They informed him that Patty committed suicide due to the pregnancy situation. They demanded that Don should pay. While Don went to the bank, the other two scoured his office to get files and information. It was not clear if they got what they needed when Elizabeth asked Philip how the mission went.
In other news, the show will be ending with Seasons 5 and 6. Executive Producer Joel Fields explained that if they will be following a three-act story structure, then they are already ending the second act in Season 4, Cinemablend reports.
Season 5 will air in 2017 while Season 6 will be in 2018. After which, the executive producers are free to do other things. In fact, Joel Fields and Joe Weisbery already signed a deal for a yet to be announced new show, writes Inverse.
Moving on to the third act, viewers may expect changes in Seasons 5 and 6. There are many issues that the Jennings experienced in Season 4. It is clear that these need resolutions, some of which may include the conclusion of the biological weapons saga. It is also expected that a final solution for the Pastor Tim and Alice circumstance will be given, along with a new assessment of Philip and Elizabeth’s status in the KGB. Seasons 5 and 6 may also include story lines digging deeper into Elizabeth’s emotions. Season 4 started showing her inner turmoil on the methods she has to execute versus maintaining personal relationships.
