‘America’s Got Talent 2016’ update: 33 acts advance to live shows
Talent show to air live from Hollywood starting July 26
“Are you ready America? Now, you’re the judge.” Only 33 performers from across the United States have gotten through the scrutiny of “America’s Got Talent 2016” judges and will be performing on the upcoming season 11 live shows in Hollywood.
The four segments of AGT Judge Cuts have trimmed down the hopefuls for the US$1 million (AU$1.3 million) grand prize to only 33 acts. “America’s Got Talent 2016 will air its maiden live show on July 26.
Four celebrity guests -- Ne-Yo, Reba McEntire, George Lopez and Louis Tomlinson -- helped AGT judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel come up with the shortlist. Meanwhile, long-time AGT host Nick Cannons evaded rules and pushed the golden buzzer to nominate his favourite act.
Here's the list of performers advancing to "America's Got Talent 2016" live shows.
For the most fourth and final segment of AGT Judge Cuts following acts got through:
- Victor Kee, 45, theatrical juggler
- Thommy and Amelie Clairvoyants, Austrian couple, magicians
- ThroWings, couple, acrobats
- Sos and Victoria Petrosyan, German couple, magicians
- Outlawz, male dance group
- Musicality, choir group
- Jayna Brown, 14, singer (golden buzzer from One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson)
For the third round of Judge Cuts, the following got the AGT judges’ nod:
- Daniel Joyner, 17, singer
- Brian Justin Crum, 28, singer
- Tape Face, mute/unnamed performer
- Ryan Stock and AmberLynn, duo performers
- Blake Vogt, 27, magician
- Alla and Daniel, mother-and-son dance duo
- Malevo, male dance group (golden buzzer from comedian George Lopez)
For the second segment of Judge Cuts, the AGT judges gave the following acts their approval:
- Julia Scotti, 63, comedian
- Kadan Bart Rockett, magician, 10
- Deadly Games, couple, Las Vegas performers
- Vello Vaher, 52, contortionist
- Moya Angela, 32, singer
- Kadie Lynn, 12, singer
- Sofie Dossi, 14, contortionist (golden buzzer from Country singer Reba McEntire)
For the first round of Judge Cuts, the AGT judges chose the following acts:
- Ronee Martin, 62, singer
- The Passing Zone, duo, jugglers
- Lori Mae Hernandez, 13, comedian
- Hiroki Hara, magician-illusionist
- Linkin Bridge, acapella singers
- Edgar, family band
- Jon Dorenbos, 35, magician (golden buzzer from R&B singer Ne-Yo)
Meanwhile, the following earned the most coveted golden buzzer from the AGT judges and host:
- Laura Bretan, 13, opera singer (Mel B)
- Grace VanderWaal, 12, singer-songwriter (Howie Mandel)
- Sal Valentinetti, 20, singer (Heidi Klum)
- Rachel Plattens, 16, singer (Simon Cowell)
- Dorothy Williams, 90, dancer (Nick Cannons)
"America's Got Talent 2016" airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the US on NBC. It airs every Saturday in Australia on FOX8.
