British boxer Amir Khan had an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal's Lee Hawkins in September.

Amir Khan talked about how it was difficult for him in the beginning. He had to get his name out, and it was not all easy on him.

"People think it is easy, you know first of all, the money comes in and everything, they don't see that hard work you have to put in, waking up at 5 o'clock in the morning or 6 o'clock in the morning going for a run," he said. "I mean, being in sparring, training hard, some days you may not be able to get at bed," he continued. "People do not see the hard work, they might see the nice cars, they might see the money that comes in with but it's only because we work so hard," said Khan.

The British boxer even used Floyd Mayweather Jr as an example. "When I see a fighter like Floyd Mayweather, or whoever, enjoying himself and wearing Rolex or whatever, I mean, I never said anything bad about him because I know he deserves it," said Khan. He also regarded boxing as the toughest sport in the world.

Hawkins asked if Khan is still hoping to land a fight with Mayweather in the future. "Definitely," answered Khan. "Mayweather is one of the best fighters right now," he added. "But like I said, time will tell, and I would love that fight and I mean Floyd's interested in that fight, it is just about the right time," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Khan is hosting a charity dinner on Dec 1 for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. It is a fundraising dinner for Islamic Relief which will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford. Tickets are at £ 30. Khan has always been involved with charitable and community work. During the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, he was able to raise £ 1 million for its victims. Khan is currently involved with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty in Children (NSPCC) and National Literary Trust.
