Amy Winehouse's father wasn't impressed with Beyonce's cover of his late daughter's song. The outspoken dad claims that while the US singer's version of "Back to Black" wasn't bad, it was so different from the original version.

After learning that Beyonce recorded a cover of the 2007 track for the film "The Great Gatsby," Mitch claimed he was hesitant about the idea.

"I don't think she brings anything to it," he told The Daily Mail. "I wasn't asked for my permission if they could record it."

He came around, though, and eventually agreed to the use of the song, saying, "They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can't tell you how much it is but it's a lot of money."

Although he refused to mention the amount, he had hoped for a specific figure on his Twitter account.

"I don't know this but what if Beyonce gaive £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there."

He was talking about the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which he set up after Amy's passing in July 2011. It aims to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people, supporting, informing, and inspiring vulnerable and disadvantaged youth to reach their full potential.

The taxi driver also noted that Beyonce's version is "much different to Amy. No comparison but it's not bad at all."

He is more amenable on Monday, though. He wrote "I like Beyonces cover and have no probs. monies received will help lots of kids. She can do another cover if she wants. We need the money!"

Beyonce partnered with Andre 300 for the "Back to Black" cover. Her husband, Jay-Z, produced the film's album.
