Husband and wife team Amy and Samy Bouzaglo got more than they bargained for when they appeared on the U.S. reality show “Kitchen Nightmares.” The Amy’s Baking Company owners only hoped to disprove their online critics, but instead they made an enemy of the entire Internet populace. And with the Internet as enemy, it’s almost always certain that it’s going to fight back.

And it did... with memes.

Television viewers and netizens were treated to a highly infuriating but engrossing show that is the Bouzaglos when they appeared on Chef Gordon Ramsay’s reality programme. To say that the restaurateurs acted unkind to everyone on the show is putting it mildly. They are undoubtedly the worst restaurant owners ever to appear on the show.

More than bad food and bad service, customers were complaining of the awful treatment they got from the couple after they complained of the long wait on their food or the quality of their dish.

Samy, who allegedly invested more than a million dollars to build Amy’s dream restaurant, was seen on the show screaming at customers who criticised his wife’s cooking. Amy, who insisted that she has “true passion and talent for anything having to do with the culinary arts,” retaliated on diners who sent their orders back by making their food even worse than they were the first time they were served.

There was even a time when Amy had called the cops on the diners who complained to Samy about the long wait. It was an ugly scene, but it wasn’t the worst. There are a lot more despicable things that the viewers had watched in the show’s episode.

It was learned that Amy and Samy were not just rude to their customers, but also to their staff. They were also pocketing the tips their food servers had earned. Amy had even fired a young server for daring to double check an order with her.

Ramsay was understandably aghast at what he witnessed, and told the couple exactly what he thought. But Amy wouldn’t hear any of it, saying the Michelin-starred chef knew nothing about good food. In the end, Amy refused to continue, and Ramsay, for the first time in the show, walked away without helping the couple. The episode ended without any resolution.

Unfortunately for Amy and Samy, their infamy had just begun online.

Netizens have created Amy memes, calling attention to Amy’s crazy behaviour. The focus is more on Amy since she is quite a character, which means that she’s more fun to make fun of.

If there’s one thing that the Amy’s Baking Company owners should have known before the whole fiasco started, it’s that the Internet is a formidable and persistent foe that can make them famous for all the wrong reasons.
