Analysing the Death of Amy Winehouse and How Drinking Put Her Life to An End [PHOTOS]
It was the content of recent news that the cause of death of the late Amy Winehouse was alcohol poisoning. This was supported by an investigation released by a reliable British coroner which says the alcohol content in her body was five times the allowed limit for driving. But on second thought, one could think that what really killed her was her ignorance. She might have been totally unaware of the extreme change in alcohol tolerance following a period of being sober.
Winehouse has been reported becoming successfully sober for 30 days already before she relapsed which eventually led to her unexpected end. Police in the scene attested that there were three vodka bottles presumably consumer by the soulful artist in her own apartment in London. She was prescribed a particular sedative to fight her possible withdrawal symptoms, but there were no drugs found in her body at the time of her death.
The abstinence that she recently went through could have been the leading factor that made things different. She must have really had a very high tolerance for alcohol during her peak days of drinking. But she apparently lost it all when she became sober for several weeks. Tolerance happens when the same amount or dosage of drugs tend to lead in smaller effects. This then is what leads addicts to not cease on taking more each time.
Even other research says that one of the riskiest periods of suffering from overdose happen during the first few days of relapse right after a considerable long period of abstinence. This is applicable for whatever kind of substance a person may be addicted to, whether it is alcohol or multiple drugs.
The bottom point is that it helps to know how tolerance works so as to avoid the possible scenario of an overdose. It could have helped or saved Amy Winehouse if she knew that the dose of alcohol she took on before she quit drinking was already capable of taking away her life.
Amy Winehouse, you will always be remembered for your beautiful voice and amazing music.
Rest in Peace.
